Meet the Heart Behind Emogene & Co.: Dr. Allyson Brennan

Hi there, I’m Dr. Allyson Brennan, a clinical pharmacist and the founder of Emogene & Co. Today, I want to take a moment to personally introduce myself and share the story of how our family-owned skincare company came to be.

The truth is, I never set out to start a skincare company. But life has a funny way of steering us toward what we’re truly meant to do. For me, that journey began with the birth of my daughter, Parker Emogene. Suddenly, I found myself looking much closer at the ingredients in the products we were putting on our skin every day.

With my chemistry background as a clinical pharmacist, I quickly realized that many of these products were filled with unnecessary additives that didn’t truly support skin health. It felt frustrating, but also inspiring—because I knew I had the tools to do something about it.

The Start of Something New

Drawing on my expertise in pharmacy and my passion for medicinal chemistry, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I saw a real need for simpler, purer skincare products with greater transparency—something that could work for everyone in my family, from the youngest to the oldest. I envisioned products that weren’t just effective but also safe, gentle, and truly nourishing for the skin.

This realization sparked the birth of Emogene & Co.

Over the years, I’ve come to see how much the skincare industry has let us down with “quick-fix” solutions, unsafe ingredient concentrations, and over-complicated (and often expensive) routines. My goal with Emogene & Co. has always been to provide uncomplicated, effective skincare that promotes healthy, functional skin from the inside out.

A Legacy Rooted in Nature and Hard Work

I come from a family of farmers. Growing up in Mississippi, I worked alongside my dad, a hard-working family man, and a mother who was a dedicated full time nurse. From them, I learned the value of dedication and putting your heart and soul into everything you do. It’s a lesson that has shaped every step of this journey.

I also grew up with a deep appreciation for the power of nature. My grandmother, Emogene—the namesake of both my daughter and this company—could take anything and turn it into something beautiful. Her resourcefulness, creativity, and love for the simple things in life inspire me every day as I continue to grow Emogene & Co.
