Top Skincare Treatments to Boost Your Skin’s Health

Top Skincare Treatments to Boost Your Skin’s Health

Choosing the right skincare treatment for your specific needs can be challenging with the multitude of options available today. I’ve tried and tested some incredible treatments that have given me visible results and significantly improved the look, feel, and overall health of my skin. Here’s a rundown of my top recommendations to give your skin the boost you’ve been searching for, as well as links to aesthetic centers in the Nashville area that I recommend for each service.

Microneedling

  • Microneedling is one of my favorite skincare treatments, and I particularly love it paired with radiofrequency.  This treatment creates tiny micro-injuries in your skin, prompting your body to produce more collagen and elastin. The result is a more even skin tone, minimized fine lines and wrinkles, and a noticeable glow.

For those needing extra help with firming the skin, combining microneedling with radiofrequency is a must. While it's a slightly more uncomfortable procedure, the benefits are undeniable (and don’t worry, the provider will numb you beforehand to minimize discomfort). After turning 40, I found this combo to be incredibly effective in boosting my skin’s collagen levels. The specific treatment I’ve had and really love the results of is called Morpheus 8.

Sculptra

  • Another treatment I’m pretty new to but absolutely love is Sculptra. This treatment involves injections of FDA approved molecules that help to increase collagen levels. Sculptra also forms a matrix around your natural collagen that allows for further building on top of what is already there. Don’t worry, the provider will numb you beforehand to minimize discomfort since this process does involve injections.

Sculptra requires several treatments, but the results are long-lasting – up to 2 years! My first two treatments were separated by 6 to 8 weeks, and after this was when I really started to notice my skin was glowing, plump, and more lifted, and it looks like my skin has collagen levels like when I was in my 30’s.

Chemical Peels

  • Getting a chemical peel is a quick way to address several skin concerns simultaneously. They work by exfoliating your skin on a deeper level, leaving you with a bright, even-toned complexion. Chemical peels are best for anyone looking to improve acne, melasma, enlarged pores, sun damage, scarring, fine lines, and deep wrinkles.

Another benefit of chemical peels is that they are well tolerated and do not require any numbing. However, one important thing to note is that they may require a little downtime. It is common for the skin to shed within 1-2 days of receiving a chemical peel and can last up to 5 days after. If you are concerned about social downtime, you may want to consider scheduling your chemical peel when you have a couple days to take it easy and let your skin do its thing. Lastly, although it’s not a requirement, it is recommended to complete 4-6 treatments for best results.
